DT-MUN (DAV Thane Model United Nations)
DAV THANE MUN is the most awaited
event of the year. Social department of the secondary section has
enthusiastically conducted this event on 25th November 2022 under
the guidance of our honourable Principal Madam Mrs. SIMMI JUNEJA & HOD Mrs.
RAJASHRI DASH.
Model UN is a popular activity for those interested in learning more about how the UN operates. Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business and the arts – including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as student.
The United Nations Model UN Programme aims to build and maintain strong links between the UN and Model UN participants across the globe. It does that through guides and workshops, which teach students how to make their simulations more accurate; by visiting Model UN conferences and sharing first-hand knowledge of what the actual UN is like; and through encouraging Model UN clubs to take real action to support UN values and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
DAV MUN has distinguished itself as one of the leading Model United Nations conferences on the high school circuit. We offer small and engaging crisis committees and select general assembly's that incorporate an array of topics, time periods, regions, and universes. For over two decades, DAV MUN has brought together delegates to debate, collaborate, and solve some of the most pressing international relations issues. While the world changes around us, DAVMUN continues to stay committed to the values of diplomacy, rigorous debate, and diversity and inclusion.
DAV THANE MUN delegates presented their views on versatile agenda consisting of various committees of UN- UNESCO, FAO, UNDP, UNHRC, ECOSOC, IMO,UNWOMEN and UNSC.
The topics dealt with various issues in different countries of the world like India, China, Belgium, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Peru, Brazil, Poland, Ukraine, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Egypt, Nigeria, France, Italy and so on. Delegates discussed and debated on vide array of issues such as Opportunities for livelihood: Upscaling Innovation and infrastructure, measures to ensure safety of refugees in conflicted areas, ensuring quality education and increasing accessibility for e-learning, mitigating threats of piracy on ships, combating global non-renewable energy crisis, violation of human rights during military conflicts with special emphasis on Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, measures to curb economic crisis with special emphasis on Sri Lankan crisis, disaster preparation against effects of climate change in vulnerable countries, Combating the International Obesity and Diabetic Epidemic with special emphasis on India, discussing on human space fight and whether space exploration is required or not, Measures to ensure Protection of women from human trafficking and sexual harassment and many more topics were discussed with heated debates and intense negotiations.
